RACHEL JENNINGS
(Izaak Walton Golf Club, Staffordshire).
Home country: England.
Age: 19.

HOW DID YOU BECOME INTERESTED IN GOLF?
My family played and I became jealous of my brother, so I decided to play too. I started playing at the age of eight (competitively from age 11) but, for a lot of my teens, I preferred netball.

LOWEST COMPETITIVE 18-HOLE SCORE
67 at Pennard Golf Club in 2006 junior club championship.

HOLES-IN-ONE
One – at the third hole at my home club … hit an 8-iron slightly thinned!

CHAMPIONSHIPS WON OR BEEN RUNNER-UP
WON – 2006 ENGLISH GIRLS UNDER-18 STROKE-PLAY.
WON – 2006 ENGLISH GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIP.
WON – 2005 COUNTY GIRLS’ CHAMPIONSHIP.

OTHER NOTABLE ACHIEVEMENTS

TOP POINTS SCORER FOR ENGLAND IN 2007 HOME INTERNATIONAL MATCHES.

2004 – Semi-finalist in English girls championship.

MOST MEMORABLE GOLF EXPERIENCE
Winning the English girls’ championship in 2006.

OTHER NOTES OF INTEREST
Supporter of Port Vale Football Club. That’s unusual! At nine years old was a netball umpire and kept the team in line.

LUCKY CHARM
My Port Vale FC towel – have to have that on my golf bag.

WHEN NOT PLAYING GOLF
Going down to my parents’ house in Wales to unwind. Enjoy listening to music and catching up with friends and family.

BEST PART OF YOUR GAME
My long game, driving and iron play.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU PRACTISE?
Every day.

GOLFING AMBITION
To be a successful tour professional.

TARGETS FOR 2008
To gain a +2 handicap and win a women’s title.

FAVOURITE COURSES

Adam Scott, Tiger Woods, Annika Sorestam and me.
