Saturday Evening Quotes -United States
MARTHA KIROUAC
I told our players that I think dinner's going to taste a little better.
I think we went out this morning just a little bit flat and had a little trouble cranking it and it was a wake-up call for us.
I think this team is very competitive. They didn't like being shut out three to zip this morning and I think they showed that this afternoon.
What I told them was basically go out, play your own game and by all means have fun. We've done the preparation; we've done the hard work. This is now the reward. Now it's time to play. So go out and enjoy yourselves. Don't get all tied up in this and put additional pressure on yourselves.
They played loose, given the conditions. Liz Janangelo got off to a really quick start and although she lost we started going in the plus column in matches early on. You get momentum on this and I think you have to guard against this going too fast.
ERICA BLASBERG
Q: Was there pressure on you after sitting out this morning?
No added pressure. It was a nice break this morning, to be fresh and to see how the early morning players did ... to see if we could learn from that.
Q: Were you pleased to come out on top after being up and down?
I had a few problems at the beginning. Then I hit the flagstick on 10 and I hit the flagstick on 11 and got to 15 and really struggled for a few holes.
Luckily, I closed it on 18 with that birdie putt.
Q: Did you give yourself a talking to on the 18th tee?
Yes. I said let's get something done here after goofing around for the last three holes.

Q: What was the biggest difference from the morning to the afternoon?
In singles I got in a rhythm whereas in foursomes I didn't. Foursomes is difficult for us Americans as we don't play it a lot. We're getting used to it. Me and Sarah (Huarte) didn't really get into a rhythm. We didn't play awful and with a putt here and a putt there, we could have ended up winning the match.

Q: How do you get off to a quick start tomorrow?
It didn't enter anyone's mind that we would get shut out this morning and they proved that this afternoon, the alarm clock went off. They'll go out tomorrow with definite goals and get down to business.
Q: Are you surprised how the British played?
They played very well. We did a lot of things very right out there this afternoon. We had that momentum again but it can switch in a heartbeat in the other direction just as fast.
We've got to be sure we keep the position we've got and try to build on it
