Quotes from Skippers - Saturday Foursomes

MARTHA KIROUAC

They were three really close matches up to about the 15th and 16th holes. The first one could have gone either way. I didn't get to spend as much time with that match as I would have liked.

My understanding is there were a lot of putts made by GB&I. GB&I controlled the greens a little bit better than we did. I hope we can come out this afternoon and turn the tables. These players have got to get comfortable with the format and themselves and just go out there and be themselves. And we'll be fine.

Three points down is not the end of the world. It's a long time until the end of tomorrow afternoon and there will be plenty of opportunities to get back into this thing. We're not out of it by any stretch of the imagination. It's been a kind of learning experience for us this morning. We'll come out hard this afternoon.

I just think that GB&I made more putts than we did. More key putts which, if you look back at the history of the event, that is typically how these matches go. Who's rolling the ball best on the greens wins.

Yes, a 3-0 lead is beyond my wildest dreams. At best I was hoping to go in at lunchtime with a 2-1 lead, so be three-nil up is just fantastic.  We know there's a long way to go and there's no doubt that the Americans will come out with all guns blazing this afternoon.

Our girls have just got to get refocused for the singles. They're all striking the ball very, very well. They're all very comfortable with the greens which is the big plus point that we have here at Formby.

Yes, it's a bit like the flying start we made in (winning) the Vagliano Trophy last summer. We didn't want to be falling behind early and having to try to catch up all the way.
