Started playing golf at the age of 11 after picking up golf
balls for her dad when he practised. Decided to have a go herself
and soon came to the fore nationally as a girl golfer. She was
Golf Foundation Age Group Champion and Duke of Trophy Trophy
winner in 1996 and runner-up in 1994 and 1995. She won Golf
Foundation Golfer of the Year Award in 1997, was England schoolgirls
champion in 1998 and runner-up the following year. She captained
the England schools team three years in a row.
Fame made her debut for the England women's team in 2000, played
in the Curtis Cup match of 2002 and the Vagliano Trophy matches
of 2003 (won four matches out of four) and 2003. She was Liphook
Scratch Trophy winner in 2002, the same year she was runner-up
in the South African women's amateur championship. Fame was
also second in the Welsh open stroke-play championship of 2001.
Lowest score has been five under-par: a 67 at Roehampton and
a 68 at Chesterfield. |
